Obuse Town’s own Yumiko Atobe, a renowned pressed flower artist, will hold a solo exhibition titled “Pressed Flowers in Everyday Life” from April 17th to May 13th at the Garari Showcase in Nagano.

Known for her intricate and expressive floral compositions, Atobe draws inspiration from the seasonal transitions in her personal garden. Her works transform petals into lasting art, inviting viewers to see nature not only as decoration but as an emotional and ever-evolving presence in daily life.

Among the highlights is “Like Flowers Blooming in the Field,” a piece that layers blossoms from multiple seasons in a single frame. Visitors can also experience the powerful “Pressed Flower Phoenix,” inspired by Hokusai’s famous ceiling painting at Ganshoin Temple. Made entirely of plants, this dramatic reinterpretation surprises with its boldness and shows the untapped potential of pressed flower art.
