This December, Kentucky Fried Chicken is giving Tokyo a festive twist on its most famous tradition with the launch of its first-ever "KFC Christmas Restaurant," a limited-time pop-up now open at Roppongi Hills. Running from December 2nd to December 7th, the restaurant offers a refined, sit-down take on Japan's much-loved Christmas chicken culture.
The opening day was marked by a PR event featuring TV personality Nozomi Tsuji ,who appeared in a festive red Christmas-inspired outfit and shared her family's love of KFC as a holiday staple. After sampling the special menu, she praised the Christmas BBQ Chicken Plate with grilled vegetables for its stylish presentation and rich sweet-and-savory flavor, calling it a dish both adults and children would enjoy.
Unlike standard KFC outlets, the Christmas Restaurant focuses on elevated, restaurant-style dishes. Highlights include a tomato cream pasta made with the Christmas-only Five-Grain Chicken Breast Roast, a smoked chicken Caesar salad, and elegantly arranged versions of classic favorites such as fries, coleslaw, and biscuits. The pop-up has also partnered with wine specialist Enoteca to offer sommelier-selected wine pairings designed to complement each dish.
The interior is decorated with Christmas tree-inspired table ornaments and a giant party barrel display at the entrance, creating a fully immersive holiday atmosphere. Guests also receive a limited-edition original Christmas card as a keepsake.
With just 50 seats and no reservations accepted, visitors must line up on the day. Dining time may be limited during busy periods, and menu items are available while supplies last. Business hours run from 11am to 10pm, with shortened hours on the opening day only.
For those looking to experience a more luxurious side of Japan's iconic KFC Christmas tradition, this pop-up offers a rare opportunity.
