Yanagidani Kannon Hydrangea Week 2023

A month-long festival celebrating these rainy season blooms

장소: Yanagidani Kannon, Kyoto 언제: Jun 1st - Jun 30th 2023

Hydrangeas, known as ajisai in Japanese, are beloved flowers that bloom abundantly during the rainy season around June. The vibrant hues of blue, pink, and purple create picturesque landscapes, and various festivals are held when the flowers are at their best.

One such festival is the Yanagidani Kannon Hydrangea Week, which in actuality is a month-long affair celebrating the colorful blooms. In addition to the 5000 hydrangeas at their peak on the grounds, there will be seasonal hydrangea goshuin (shrine stamps) and hydrangea-filled hanachozu (the water-filled basins used to purify yourself before entering a shrine or temple). If you don't already have a shrine stamp book, hydrangea-themed ones will also be available for purchase.
