The Ichinoseki-Hiraizumi Balloon Festival will once again take to the Tohoku skies this autumn, bringing together elite pilots for a high-level competition in breathtaking surroundings. Known as part of the Hot Air Balloon Honda Grand Prix, this event stands as the region's only large-scale balloon contest and has become a highlight on Japan's ballooning calendar.
The festival was first launched as part of recovery efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake and has since taken on a life of its own, becoming both a sporting challenge and a cherished local tradition.
