A breathtaking fantasy woven with 5.5 million light bulbs, the Tokinosumika Illumination 2025–2026 “Hikari no Sumika” (Home of Light) celebrates the 30th anniversary of this beloved Gotemba Kogen tradition. This year’s theme, “Magic Forest,” transforms the area at the foot of Mt. Fuji into a glowing realm of light and sound. Visitors can marvel at the newly designed 20-meter symbol tree, inspired by Mt. Fuji’s majestic silhouette, and experience a reimagined story told through projection mapping inside the Magical Church (Cherry Blossom Chapel).
The upgraded Royal Palace Hill invites guests on a luminous journey along the Light Walkway, surrounded by soft blue radiance leading to a breathtaking fountain laser show that soars up to 150 meters. Scattered across the grounds are magical photo spots, including a glowing merry-go-round and the illuminated Bell of Love, one of the world’s largest swing bells. The internationally acclaimed fountain show, which won top honors at the International Illumination Award 2024, returns with even more spectacle, featuring dance performances and limited-edition collaboration shows with Night Bubble. Certified as part of Japan’s Night View Heritage, Tokinosumika remains a pioneer of large-scale illuminations, offering visitors a dazzling and heartwarming celebration of light and imagination beneath Mt. Fuji’s timeless presence.
