Kappabashi the Kitchen Town

Everything you need to create some magic in the kitchen!

If you feel like setting up a restaurant, thinking of redecorating your old kitchen, or probably just looking for some new utensils, then this is definitely your go-to place! Kappabashi Street, also known as the Kitchen Town, is located between the famous Ueno and Asakusa districts. It can be reached through Tawaramachi Station on Tokyo Metro's Ginza Line.

The street has more than 170 specialized shops where you can find almost everything you need for your kitchen or restaurant-to-be. From containers, ovens, stoves, tables, chairs, lanterns, restaurant signs, pans, chopsticks, tableware, plastic food samples, to stationery and even uniforms. You name it, everything is here! And just for fun, look for Kappa, the mythical Japanese frog-like character adopted as the mascot of Kappabashi Street. It can be found scattered in some of the street signs, sometimes dressing up in funny costumes.
