Japan Blue: Living with Indigo 2022

A special exhibition at the Serizawa Museum of Art

Shizuoka City's Serizawa Museum of Art focuses on the works of revered Japanese textile designer Keisuke Serizawa (1895 - 1984), who was designated as a a Living National Treasure by the Japanese government in 1956.

The museum celebrated its 40th anniversary in June of 2021, and a special exhibition taking place at the museum from early January to late March 2022 will explore approximately 150 of Serizawa's indigo dyed pieces. There will be the likes of clothing, furoshiki (traditional Japanese gift wrapping cloths), fire fighting uniforms, and decorations on display.

Admission to the exhibition is priced at ¥ 420, and no advance reservations are required.

The Shizuoka City Serizawa Museum of Art is located around 20 minutes by bus from Shizuoka Station -- take the Toro Line bus and get off at the ”Toro Iseki” stop.

For those who opt to drive to the museum, on-site parking is available for approximately 60 vehicles.
