"Rikugien is my favourite garden in the world thanks to its various landscapes, seasonal changes, carps & turtles, traditional sweets with green tea at an open teahouse facing the pond, "shidare-zakura" weeping cherry tree (awesome in full bloom), autumn.."

"I enjoyed beautiful wisteria blossoms twice at Ashikaga Flower Park; go on a weekday before or after the Golden Week to avoid the (quiet) crowds... Nice for 2-3 hours with kids or a lover; big groups can split to explore different alleys."

"Rent an electric car to be amazed by this huge statue of Amida Buddha and discover the Japanese countryside in Ibaraki prefecture. Big parking lot on site, and interesting sights inside the statue. Non-Buddhists are all welcome."
