The 24th Ayahashi Underwater Road Race will take place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, starting at 9:00 a.m., with the main venue at Uruma City Yonashiro General Park Athletics Stadium. From this year, the race moves from March to January and invites runners to experience a spectacular course across the underwater road, surrounded by emerald-green seas. Events include a half marathon, 10 km race, and Japan’s first-ever Pokémon Run (3.8 km), themed around Okinawa’s support Pokémon, Gardevoir. Popular Okinawan band HY will also appear as guest starters and supporters, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Please note that traffic regulations will be in effect, with a revised one-way traffic period from 8:00 to 13:30 between the Mid-Sea Road Entrance Intersection and the Hamahiga Bridge Entrance Intersection. Free temporary parking is available at designated locations around Uruma City, with shuttle bus service operating from 6:00 to 14:00 on the day of the event. Applications for participation are now closed, having exceeded capacity, and organizers thank all runners and residents for their cooperation in ensuring a safe and enjoyable event.
