A special event taking place at the Niigata Bandaijima Art Museum looks at the theme of hunters on land, and will explore a range of different animals from Cretaceous period crocodiles to modern amphibians, reptiles, and more. There will be displays focused on plenty of familiar hunters too, including the likes of lions, tigers, gray wolves, and birds of prey.
Some of the highlights will include a full-scale, biologically accurate replica of Deinosuchus (a giant crocodile that lived in the Cretaceous period), a specimen of the extinct Japanese river otter, and displays of hunters that kill their prey with poison.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1600 yen.
Getting there
The Niigata Bandaijima Art Museum is located on the 5th floor of the Bandaijima Building.
Buses are available to the museum area from Niigata Station's Bandai Exit. Take bus line 3 bound for Sado Kisen and get off at the Toki Messe bus stop.
For those planning to drive, the Toki Messe parking lot C is the best option. The first hour of parking is free, and then charged at 100 yen per 30 minute increment thereafter.
