The "Sendai Hikari no Pageant (an illumination festival)" starts at 5:30 pm. from mid-December until December 31 in Kotodai Park, Shimin Hiroba (the square for the citizens) and Jozenji Avenue. You'll see a cozy illumination in Kotodai Park and the gorgeous illumination along Jozenji street.
You can ice skate in the rink prepared for this event free of charge at Shimin Hiroba. You can rent skates for 800 yen. You'll need to wear your cap and gloves to skate. This area has a lot of food stalls. You'll be happy to skate and eat until the illumination lights up.
