One of the best places for views over Kyoto is the carpark of Shogunzuka. You can reach it by car along Higashiyama Driveway, but there is also some very pleasant hiking trails that lead from Awata Shrine, Chishaku-in Temple, or Rokusho Shrine in Yamashina. If the renovations at Shogunzuka are completed, be sure to visit and take some photos for me!
