The Kiyomizu Dera (literally "Pure Water Temple") is located halfway between Mount Otowa and the eastern part of the city of Kyoto.

It was built on the 8th century, even before Kyoto became the capital of Japan. Kiyomizudera temple is one of the “must see” features of Kyoto.

Since 1994 it has been declared UNESCO World Heritage Site. From its famous wooden terrace you can enjoy the most amazing view of the city, underneath it, you can taste the spring water after whom the temple is named, which is said to have healing powers.
