Every three years since 2010, the Aichi Triennale has transformed cities like Nagoya, Okazaki, and Seto into vibrant stages for contemporary art, performance, and international collaboration. As one of Japan's leading art festivals, it has steadily built a reputation for tackling bold and timely themes, drawing creators and audiences from around the world.

The 2025 edition centers around the concept A Time Between Ashes and Roses. Rather than offering easy answers, the festival invites visitors to reflect on what it means to live, create, and rebuild in a world shaped by crisis and change. It's a theme that speaks to resilience, imagination, and the emotional space between endings and beginnings. You can get more of an idea of what to expect via the video below.

With a focus on both global perspectives and local identities, the Triennale regularly features artists from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East alongside Japanese creators. Additionally, Seto City plays a unique role in the festival, with its long history of ceramics. Expect installations and site-specific works that connect directly to the area's clay, kilns, and creative spirit.
